Coloring Inside the Lines

Well, hello there dah-lings.

Chance is here to talk to you about eyeliners. This is the one piece of makeup I wear EVERYDAY. I wake up, wash yesterday’s off, and apply more.

The basics: I mean, with a whole world out there full of thick and thin, buxom and petite, dark and pale… how can one decide? Until recently, I thought my only options were pencil or liquid. I veered towards the pencil because liquid was just so unforgiving. That bitch! But pencil was thick and imprecise. Like my first boyfriend.

So, I had a friend that started selling Mary Kay. I scoffed at the thought. I had been throwing away Avon for years, but I gave her a chance and threw a party. I played with the products… and was blown away by some of them. Most especially by their eyeliner. This little guy was FIERCE. No tugging, effortless lines. RICH, DARK color. I’m hooked. I wear it every day. Almost.

I was researching classic Pin-up makeup and came across a recommendation for gel eyeliner. My brain immediately went to the hours I spent crying over liquid eyeliner. But I put on my big girl panties and bought some. And the brushes to go with, but I will get to that in a minute. I tried so many brands because I saw the potential. So much control with the brush and the gel creates a thicker consistency that makes it DARK. It sticks! It doesn’t wiggle around. I finally found a gel eyeliner made by a seller on etsy.com. Her product is so easy to use and so forgiving.

BUT! BUT! BUT!

Use a good brush. I love using my angled brush from the Mary Kay brush collection and Eye Liner Applicator Antibacterial Makeup Brush #710 - Studio Line. I use the angled for thick more dramatic looks and the Studio Line for my delicate lines.

With these two eyeliners, I will never ever again buy a pencil or that cute little tube of liquid.
